country 乡村(country 也有 国家 的含义)
1) country, 国家 的常用词，侧重国土、疆域。
为什么说 country 侧重国土、疆域？因为 country 还可以指 地区、区域、乡下、乡村。
Australia's a big country. 澳大利亚是一个幅员辽阔的国家。
They won't let him leave the country. 他们不许他离开这个国家。
China is a populous country with a long history. It had splendid old civilization and made significant contribution to human race. 中国是一个历史悠久，人口众多的国家，创造了灿烂的古代文明，对人类做出了重大的贡献。
2) state, 国家 的政治上的用词，即在谈论政治时用。也表示与政府组织相关。这一点，也可以在 state 的其它词义上得到证明。比如：
state, 也指某些国家的州、邦。州与邦的划分，是政治上的事，与政府组织有关。
state, 也有政府的含义，比如，British state 英国政府。
所以，提及 国家元首、国葬，与国家政府有关的“国家”时，用 state, 不用country, nation.

3) nation, 除了国家 的含义，还有民族、国民的含义。nation，强调其民族、社会及经济结构。
